Every franchise conversation eventually arrives at the same question: how much can you actually put in? Liquidity — cash a candidate can deploy without a loan — is the first filter in qualification, and the one most often applied too late.
Why liquidity comes first
A candidate can be enthusiastic, experienced, and perfectly suited to the concept, and none of it matters if they cannot fund the deal. Liquidity is the constraint that does not negotiate. Net worth can support financing, experience can be trained, timelines can shift — but a candidate $100,000 short of the requirement is not a prospect for this concept, full stop.
Screening on anything else first means spending your best hours on people who were never going to close.
Set the band before you source
Write down two numbers: the minimum liquidity for your concept, and the level at which a candidate is comfortably funded rather than stretched. That band is your qualification standard, and every lead source should be held to it.
The band also makes suppliers accountable. "Send me candidates with at least $150K liquid, verified" is an instruction a partner can be measured against. "Send me quality leads" is not.
Ask about money early, and plainly
Consultants sometimes soften the money question because it feels impolite. Candidates experience the opposite: a direct, matter-of-fact financial conversation signals professionalism, and serious candidates come prepared for it. The ones who bristle at "what liquidity are you working with?" are telling you something useful, early.
On a first call, three questions do most of the work:
- What liquid capital are you planning to invest?
- Is that figure available now, or does it depend on selling something?
- What total investment range are you comfortable with?
The verification gap
Self-reported finances on a web form are claims, not facts — routinely optimistic, sometimes fictional. The figure that matters is the one confirmed in a real conversation by someone who asks the follow-up questions. This is why our own tiers are built on call-verified liquidity and net worth bands: Bronze, Silver, and Gold each correspond to a verified financial level, so the first filter is already applied before a lead reaches you.
Match the tier to the concept
If your concept needs $100K liquid, buying leads verified at a premium tier is wasted spend; if it needs $400K, a cheaper tier is a pipeline of people who cannot close. Qualification by liquidity is not just a screening step — it is a purchasing decision. Buy the band you can actually place.
If you want leads pre-filtered to your concept's financial band, see the tiers or talk to us.
